Hello everyone and happy Tuesday! Have you noticed the rise in skincare popularity over the past few years? I definitely have. And with skincare ,it comes with starting a night time routine. I always love doing my night time routine because it’s one step closer to going to bed. It’s like a personal time for me to wind down. Wash off the stress and anxiety of the day. So, why not give you some habits that I’ve picked up. 5 youthful habits for your night time routine.
This is my favorite thing to do at the end of the night. Drop some lavender essential oils in to my diffuser and lay in bed a bit. Essentia oils really help you to relaxes. It improves clarity and focus. As well as helping clear airways for easier breathing. Even promotes feelings of calmness. A great way to settle down during your night time routine. And they just have such a great aroma for your room.
2. Drink a glass of water
This night time routine addition is just great for your health. Usually when we go to bed and wake up, we’re dehydrated. Drinking warm water before bed will keep you hydrated through the night and may help the body to rid itself of unwanted toxins. It may also help to relieve pain or cramping in the stomach. If plain water is too bland or if you’re trying to beat a cold, consider adding lemon to you water before bed.
I don’t know about you ,but I hate when I wash my face and there’s still makeup left over on my face. This is where double cleansing comes in. I’ve been trying to clear my face more. Since my face gets acne so quick. Double cleansing is when you use an oil based cleanser to break down those oils and dirt on your face. It’s also a great alternative to using make up wipes. After you’ve rinsed off the oil cleanser, then you go in and use your regular daily cleanser to remove anything left over. Once I started to double cleanse at night, my skin has become more clean and smoother. An easy & youthful extra step in your night time routine.
This is an actual scientific fact. Being on your phone an hour to 30 minutes before bed actually ruins your sleep. Because when you introduce those harsh UV lighting to your eyes, it makes your brain think they should stay awake. Your brain will stay active and fight sleep. Putting away your phone at the minimum 30 minutes before bed will help your quality of sleep. Reduce eye bags that you get in the morning. And settle your brain down before trying to rest. All great things to experience. A perfect addition to your night time routine.
5. Journal & Reflect
Your night time routine is about relaxing and decompressing from the day. Apart of this is reflecting on the day. Whether you journal or not, sit with yourself. Grab a good little notebook and a pen. List out 3-5 good things that happened that day. What emotions did you feel that day? How can you make tomorrow better? Maybe you have anxiety and had a triggering day. Decompress that and ask yourself what triggered you and how you can apply the lessons going further. If you journal, just mind dump your thoughts. Talk about what went on that day. If something happened that day, talk about how it made you feel. It’s a great way to let yourself settle down and get those thoughts out. Have your brain settle down before you sleep for the night.
